SNOW FOR EASTER

(23/03/08)

There was a late winter treat in store for Easter Sunday when the cold snap moved furthur inland than expected. The northerly winds combined with the moisure from a depression swept inland to give a light covering of snow over most parts.

Hemel Hempstead received 1.4cm of snow overnight, but it soon melted away as the temperatures began to rise during the day of the 23rd. Here are some snaps of the light dusting of snow mid-morning as it was starting to melt away.

Above is the air tempearture. You can see where the cold air began to push down from the north at point A on the chart to then give the right conditions at point B for the snowfall.
